Lady Eagles Set Sights on 2026-27 Season as LSC Preseason Poll Released

RICHARDSON, Texas - The Oklahoma Christian women's basketball team was selected 12th in the 2026-27 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, announced Monday by the league office as part of LSC Hoops Week. Additionally, graduate forward Taylor Jackson was named to the 16-player LSC Preseason Players to Watch list.

Building on Last Season

The Lady Eagles enter head coach Markeith Brown's second season at the helm looking to build momentum after establishing a solid foundation in 2025-26. OC posted a 12-15 overall record and an 8-12 mark in LSC play last season, highlighted by an 8-6 record on their home floor in the Payne Athletic Center.

Oklahoma Christian capped off last season in strong form, winning three of its final four regular-season games—including back-to-back victories over Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville—to finish just outside the nine-team LSC tournament bubble.

Key Returners & Jackson on Watch List

Leading OC's returning core is graduate forward Taylor Jackson (McKinney, Texas), who earned Second-Team All-LSC honors last season. Jackson averaged 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while anchoring the Lady Eagles inside. Her 2025-26 campaign was highlighted by a historic 31-point, 19-rebound performance against Midwestern State, making her the first player in OC's NCAA Division II era to record a 30-19 game.

Joining Jackson is a deep group of experienced returning production:

  • Kenzie Willis (5-11 Forward, Sr.): Started 26 games last season, averaging 10.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 76.4% from the free-throw line.

  • Sofia Lopez (5-9 Guard, Sr.): Played in all 27 games, contributing 9.4 points per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field.

  • Allyah Leusogi-Ape (5-11 Guard, 5th Yr.): Contributed 7.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game off the bench in 25 appearances.

  • Sophie Bennett (5-7 Guard, Sr.): Appeared in all 27 games (15 starts), providing backcourt direction and shooting 41.9% from three-point range.

Preseason Poll Breakdown

Voting was conducted by LSC head coaches, sports information directors, and media members. Oklahoma Christian collected 301 total points to sit in the 12th position, slotted directly ahead of regional and in-state rivals Midwestern State (283) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (278).

Texas Woman's claimed the top spot in the poll with 828 points (31 first-place votes), followed by West Texas A&M (794 points, 10 first-place votes) and UT Tyler (755 points, nine first-place votes). West Texas A&M junior guard/forward Kerbie Cash was named LSC Preseason Player of the Year.
