EDMOND, Okla. - Powered by a strong start and a stellar showing from its starting guards, Oklahoma Christian took down the Cameron Aggies in a thriller on Thursday evening, 74-71.
For the second game in a row, the Lady Eagles once again had four players in double figures, creating a balanced scoring attack.
Kenzie Willis led the way by posting her first double-double
as an Eagle, notching 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor while leading the team in rebounds as she collected 11 on the night.
Sofia Lopez also added 15 points on the night leading to her third straight game of having scored 15 or more points.
Taylor Jackson followed by tallying 13 points and nine rebounds and
Allyah Leusogi-Ape posted 10 points.
The maroon-and-gray got out to a hot start as they claimed a 7-0 lead in the first minute of the game. Hot shooting from Madison Griggs of the Aggies helped them reclaim the lead and go into the half with a 41-38 lead. The Aggies held the lead until a layup by Allyah Ape-Leusogi at the 8:40 mark of the 4th quarter gave the lead back to the Lady Eagles.
The game would go back and forth with multiple lead changes and ties until a layup by
Kenzie Willis with just 25 seconds left gave Oklahoma Christian the lead for good.
Oklahoma Christian (11-14, 7-11 LSC) will travel to Lawton as they take on Cameron for the second time in five days Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
