Lady Eagles Close Out Season Against In-State LSC Foes, Cameron in Lawton Thursday Evening

EDMOND, Okla. - The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles (10-15, LSC 7-14) wrap up the 2024-25 season on Thursday, Feb. 27th, as they travel to take on the Aggies of Cameron University (7-18, LSC 5-16) in Lawton, OK. Although the postseason is not on the line for either team, both teams want to finish the season strong and end on a winning streak to build momentum into next year's season.

The Lady Eagles Outlook (10-15, LSC 7-14)

Markeith Brown and this year's Lady Eagles have battled multiple adversities and tough competition in the Lone Star Conference. With a win over Cameron, the Lady Eagles will finish with 11 wins, the most in a season since the 2018-19 season.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles and cementing their names in the program's legacy, Kate Bradley and Nakia Cullom are coming off two outstanding final performances at home. Cullom fired on all cylinders against Sul Ross State, hitting a career-high 26 points on 77% shooting from the field and 15 rebounds to earn her second double-double of the season. This was followed by another double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds on a senior day performance against Western New Mexico. Coupled with Bradley's 19-point, seven rebounds, and seven-assist game versus Sul Ross and a tying career-high 22 points, six rebounds, and eight-assist performance versus Western New Mexico, the two led the Lady Eagles to back-to-back come-from-behind home victories.

Oklahoma Christian, finding key performances in different role players in both games, paved the way for the Lady Eagles to claim the two home wins. This was highlighted by a bench performance from Trinity Dobbs against the Mustangs, hitting two big three-pointers and finishing the weekend with two back-to-back seven-point games. Ewa Kielar and Jordan Francisco lead the rebounding battle, both given a double-figure rebounding performance, with Francisco grabbing ten against Sul Ross and Kielar snagging a single game-high 13 versus Western New Mexico.

The Lady Eagles will be looking for these players to give one more all-out effort to claim a season sweep over their in-state conference foe, Cameron, after getting a big win over them in the Eagles Nest in December this season.

Scouting the Aggies (7-18, LSC 5-16)

After losing 14 straight Lone Star Conference games, the Aggies of Cameron are on a 5-1 run to close out the season. They will look to even the season series with the Lady Eagles to close their season.

Led by the senior combo forward, Shamica Smith, averaging 15.8 points per game and 8.9 rebounds and coming off two great performances against Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico, will look to shut down the Lady Eagles and finish off her career with a 3-1 record over the Lady Eagles.

The Aggies hope Grace Alverson and Madison Griggs will shoot well again. Last week, they shot over 50% from the field and a combined 50% from the three-point line.

Series History

OC leads the overall series 22-19. The latest win in December snapped Cameron's multiple-game winning streak. The two teams have met since 1977 but took a long pause from competition from 2001 to 2015.

From 1977 to 2001, the Lady Eagles held an 18-10 lead over the series, while the Aggies have been leading 9-4 since starting competition again in 2015.

Last Matchup - December 19th, 2024 - Cameron 53 - OC 59

The Lady Eagles dominated the first quarter, holding the Aggies to two points and shooting 7.7% from the field. They entered the second quarter with a 14-point lead.

Four Lady Eagles put up double-figure performances, led by Taylor Jackson's 19 points.

With a 15-point lead at the start of the second half, the Lady Eagles would have to fend off the Aggies on every end; they would come out with a new fire to outscore the Lady Eagles 40-31 in the second half, behind a 19-point performance from Shamica Smith. However, they would still fall six points shy of the complete comeback.
