PUEBLO, Colo. -
Brooke Latham of Oklahoma Christian women's cross country broke a near 10-year all-region drought for the program as the OC women placed 15th as a team while the men recorded a 16th-place finish at the South Central Regional.
Women
Latham, after finishing seventh at the Lone Star Conference Championships for her second straight all-conference season, placed 24th in the Regional Saturday afternoon. With her 21:39.3 time in the 6000 meter (3.73 miles) race, the Amarillo, Texas, native becomes the first female cross country all-region honoree since Layne Hammer in 2016.
Caroline Karr followed not far behind, placing 34th at 22:02.9 as the duo helped OC post its second consecutive top-15 region finish.
Itzel Flores (23:29.2) finished 99th while sisters Kristen (25:08.7) and
Lauren Kirk (25:39.4) rounded out the Eagles' countable scores with a 141st and 146th finish, respectively.
Men
Tegen Arega followed his respective all-conference showing with a 70-place finish in Saturday's regional with a finishing time of 32:36.9 in the 10000 meter (6.21 miles) with the best finish in regionals from an OC cross country male since Colton Meyers in 2022.
Blake Morrison (33:07.8) and true freshman
Maxton Barker (33.21.2) placed 84th and 90th, respectively, to help lead the OC men to their best regional finish since 2019.
Cole Powell (33:28.2) and
Cade Berkey (34:12.9) rounded out the Eagle scorers with 98th and 114th-place finishes.Â
