NEW ORLEANS, La. - Both Oklahoma Christian men's and women's cross country teams, along with Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year
Kinley Kite, were recognized as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Teams and Athletes.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
On the individual athlete side, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers. Following the 2024 season on the track, Kite became just the second-ever female cross country Eagle to be named Freshman of the Year.
This is the sixth time in nine years the women's program has earned the academic honor while Kite is the second Eagle in three years to receive the individual accolade and the sixth all-time during the NCAA DII era. The 2024 nod for the men is the second time in the last three seasons.
The Eagle men held a 3.46 team-ERA - 40th in all of NCAA Division II - while the women's team were 94th in DII with a 3.4 GPA.Â
