EDMOND, Okla. - Postseason implications surround the final two matches of the 2024 season for Oklahoma Christian women's volleyball, beginning with Texas Permian Basin coming to town Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. before Western New Mexico comes to the Sooner State for Senior Day Saturday, Nov. 16 at 12 p.m.

Senior Day festivities will be start at 12 p.m. prior to Saturday's contest against Western New Mexico. The Eagles will recognize Calli Collins, Riley Daugherty, Lauren McClure, Avery Cole and Miranda Polanco.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (19-9, 8-6 LSC)
In its final road trip of the regular season, Oklahoma Christian claimed a much-needed victory over Lubbock Christian, 3-1, inching ever closer to punching its ticket to the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time since 2021. 12 teams qualified in 2021, while only eight will in 2024.

Coming into Friday's match, OC is alone in seventh in the LSC standings - one match ahead of ninth-place Texas Permian Basin. With a win on Friday, the Eagles will clinch their spot to the postseason, regardless of outcome on Saturday. If Oklahoma Christian loses Friday, it would need to win Saturday versus Western New Mexico plus have the Falcons lose their final match in order for OC to continue its season.

After starting out 1-4 in conference play, Oklahoma Christian has since gone 7-2 in league matches, including winning five of its last overall six matches. During this most recent winning stretch, Camryn McGough has been the Eagles' x-factor, hitting worse than .350 just once and has recorded at least four blocks four times. As a team, OC is eighth in the conference in hitting percentage (.218) and fourth in blocks per set (2.23).

Friday will be just the fifth all-time meeting with Permian Basin. Oklahoma Christian is 1-3 in the previous four meetings with UTPB, having dropped each of the last two matchups. The Eagles' last victory over the Falcons came in 2022 as OC won on its home floor, 3-1. For Saturday's matchup, Oklahoma Christian has never lost to Western New Mexico, holding a 3-0 series lead over the Mustangs. Last year in Silver City, N.M., OC swept WNMU behind 11 kills from Katy Geurin and Annie Davis each.

SCOUTING TEXAS PERMIAN BASIN (14-9, 7-7 LSC)
Texas Permian Basin enters the weekend in control of its own destiny, despite being ninth in the current LSC standings. The Falcons need to win their remaining two matches in order to play into the postseason. Following Friday's match against Oklahoma Christian, UTPB will head south to Lawton, Okla. to take on Cameron Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m.

Permian Basin comes to the Payne Athletic Center off its only two-match winning streak of the conference season, posting back-to-back wins against St. Mary's and St. Edward's, both of which came at home. In true road contests against LSC competition, the Falcons are 2-4, with their last such win coming against Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas, Saturday, Oct. 26. Permian Basin does bring with it its top-tier defense, limiting LSC opposition to a league-best .158 hitting percentage and 2.39 blocks per set.

SCOUTING WESTERN NEW MEXICO (7-19, 3-11 LSC)
With two matches still remaining, Western New Mexico has matched their most conference wins since 2021 at 3-11. The Mustangs have managed just three set wins in the last three weeks, all of which came in a 3-0 sweep against Sul Ross State. Taking into account those three sets, Western New Mexico has won just four sets in eight road conference matches this season.

Western New Mexico is 14th in the conference in several categories, including hitting percentage (.171), kills (11.40/set) and blocks (1.48/set). The Mustangs are fifth in the LSC in service aces, recording 1.56 per set, which is tied with Oklahoma Christian. Chase Kallevig (0.4/set) and Lilouann Bechec (0.31) are both Top-15 in the conference in aces per set. OC's Sophie Mae Smith (0.33) and Sara Freeman (0.32) are also Top-15 in the same category.
