Volleyball Adds Winters to Coaching Staff for 2026

EDMOND, Okla. - Ahead of the 2026 fall season, head coach Asa Freeman has added Taryn Winters to the coaching staff in an assistant role.

Winters comes to Oklahoma Christian from Choctaw High School, where she served as the head coach from 2022-25. Under Winters, the Yellowjacket continued a streak of nine consecutive conference championships while being honored as the 2024 Big 7 Coach of the Year.

During her stint at CHS, where she also served as the History teacher, Winters has spent four additional years coaching club volleyball with Oklahoma Force 18s (2021-22), Kaizen Girl's 17s (2022-23), Kaizen Girl's 16s/15s (2023-24) and Rise Volleyball (2024-25).

Winters (Weber) spent her playing career at Oklahoma Baptist, where she was was a three-time Great American Conference regular season champion and two-time GAC Tournament champion, while also receiving the GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete Award as a senior in 2021. Prior to that, Weber played four years at Prosper High School, where she won a 5A State Championship.

Off the court, Weber served as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for both Oklahoma Baptist University and the GAC, playing a key role in orchestrating the Bison Sports Awards Show. Weber also worked as an athletic communications intern, where she managed multiple social media accounts, assisted with website development and worked game day operations.

The 2026 Oklahoma Christian volleyball season is set to begin in Topeka, Kan., when the Eagles compete in the Washburn Invitational Aug. 27-29.
