SAN ANGELO, Texas - No. 7 seed Oklahoma Christian battled No. 2 seed Lubbock Christian in an instant classic opening-round match of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, falling 19-17 in the fifth set to send the Lady Chaparrals to the semifinals.
The Eagles were led by their senior class all match long, with
Camryn McGough posting 10 blocks on an afternoon when OC tied its program high with 18 total blocks - the second-most blocks LCU has allowed all season - and accounting for the second-most digs (128) in program history.
The Oklahoma Christian offense was led by a trio of seniors, with
Annie Davis leading the way with a team-high 18 kills while
Kathryn Christie recorded a career-high 15 winners before
Katy Geurin came through with 13 kills.
Sophie Mae Smith ended her collegiate career with a 29-assist, 14-dig double-double.
The maroon-and-gray finish its historic 2025 season with a program-record 11 conference wins, including closing the campaign winning nine of its final 11 matches, and seeing a program-record four all-conference honorees in
Chloe Jones, Davis, McGough and All-Academic honoree Smith.
The Eagles' three all-conference recipients will now advance to the all-region ballot.Â
