OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma Christian (2-7, LSC 1-4) looks to start off the 2024 year with two wins on the road in Texas, where they will take on the University of Texas at Tyler (11-3, LSC 5-0) on Thursday evening and then travel to take play Texas Woman's University (10-3, LSC 4-1) on Saturday afternoon.
 
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC

• Coach Markeith Brown is in his second season as the Lady Eagles head coach.
• The Lady Eagles were picked to finish 9th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll.
• Leading the way for the Lady Eagles is senior guard Brooklin Bain. Bain is averaging 14 points per game and 6.2 rebounds. Bain has recorded 4 double-doubles in the 9 games so far this season. Bain also sits 10th in conference scoring and 6th in rebounding.
• Senior guard Asiyha Smith is providing the Eagles with quality possession, averaging 11.3 points per game and 2.6 assists. Smith has had 5 games scoring in double digits. Smith sits at 7th in the LSC leaders in blocked shots with 10 total blocks.
• The Lady Eagles have also seen good production from redshirt sophomore Taylor Jackson, who, coming off the bench, has provided production on both ends of the court, including four games scoring at least 13 points and being a force of the boards.

• Rebecca Alvidrez is in her second year as UT Tyler's head coach. In her first year, she led the Lady Patriots to their best season in the school's Division II era. The team made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament and an Elite Eight appearance.
• Last year, the Lady Patriots finished 2nd in the LSC regular season with a record of 23-6 overall and 18-4 in conference play.
• UT Tyler was picked to finish 3rd in this year's preseason conference poll.
• The Lady Patriots currently sit 1st in the East Division and have been receiving votes in the D2 South Central Region Poll.
• Leading the way for the Lady Patriots is junior guard Tina Machalova, averaging 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
• The Lady Patriots are also led by graduate student forward Montse Gutierrez. Gutierrez is leading the way on defense, sitting at 4th in the conference in blocks and having held the title of LSC Defensive Player of the Week in week two earlier this season.

  • The Patriots were led by Destini Whitehead and Martina Machalova.
  • The Lady Eagles saw great performances from Nakia Cullom, Jordan Fancisco, and Brooklin Bain.
  • Cullom led the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
  • Francisco finished with 10 points and 5 boards
  • Bain recorded 9 points and 8 rebounds.
• In game two, the Lady Patriots pulled out another close one, winning 64-61.
  • UT Tyler saw an amazing performance from Martina Machalova, scoring 31 in the game.
  • The Eagles saw good performances from Nakia Cullom, Brooklin Bain, Jordan Francisco, and Kate Bradley.
  • Bain led the Lady Eagles with an 11-point and 13-rebound double-double.
  • Cullom showed a great game, scoring 14 for the Eagles.
  • Bradley helped facilitate the Eagles play, finishing with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.
  • Francisco played a gritty game with 11 rebounds.

• Head coach Beth Jillson is in her 17th season at TW and has been named the LSC Coach of the Year for the last two seasons.
• Last year, the Pioneers finished 2nd in the LSC tournament and represented the LSC in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Pioneers have been ranked or receiving votes in every poll this season.
• The Pioneers sit 4th in the LSC East Division.
• The Pioneers are led by the Conference's leading scorer, Ashley Ingram. She is currently averaging 17.9 points per game. Along with her scoring, she is also 7th in rebounds with 8.4 rebounds a game.
• The Pioneers are also being led by junior guard Leila Patel. Patel is averaging 12 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
• As a team, TW sits 3rd in field goal percentage, 4th in 3-point percentage, and 5th in free throw percentage in the conference.

• The Pioneers won both games against the Eagles last season.
• In game one, the Pioneers took the 76-67 win over the Eagles.
  • The Pioneers had four players reach scoring in double figures, led by Ashley Ingram with 22 points.
  • Kate Bradley led the Eagles with 17 points on 5-9 from behind the 3-point line.
  • The Eagles also saw production from Brooklin Bain, scoring 16 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, as well as Nakia Cullom, scoring 16 for the Eagles.
• In game two, the Pioneers won 73-56 in Denton.
