RICHARDSON, Texas- This week the Lone Star Conferences released the preseason polls as the Women's basketball season is just days away from being their exhibition schedule.
The Lady Eagles were picked ninth in the preseason poll, this is the second highest finish for the Lady Eagles in a preseason poll since joining the Lone Star Conference.
Last year, in coach Markeith Brown's first season at OC, the Eagles finished with an 8-18 record overall with a Lone Star Conference record of 8-14, winning six out of their last seven matchups.
The team is returning nine players from last year's roster, highlighted by senior Brooklin Bain who was picked as an LSC player to watch. Bain is coming off a season where she averaged 14.2 points a game with a shooting percentage of .411 and averaging 8.1 rebounds a game.
The Eagles are also returning their leading three-point shooter in Kate Bradley, another top rebounder in Nakia Cullom averaging 4.6 rebounds a game. The Eagles also have great experience on the defensive side of the ball returning with Jordan Francisco and Daijah Torns.
The Eagles also have Kendall Brown, Brooklyn Long, and Trinity Dobbs returning, who all gave good minutes for the Eagles last season. And Taylor Jackson who redshirt last season.
The Lady Eagles will start their season by gaining experience against two Division I teams in their exhibition games, facing Oklahoma State in Stillwater October 31st and then traveling to University of North Texas to take on the Mean Green on November 2nd. The Lady Eagles will then have their home season opener as OC celebrates Homecoming against York University November 4th with a tip off time of 1 p.m.
