RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (May 25, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian slugger
Aaliyah Brown received second-team recognition on the Division II Conference Commissioners Association's All-America softball list, which was released Wednesday.
Brown, a sophomore designated player from Oklahoma City, is the second OC player in as many years to be named as an All-American, joining teammate
Kali Crandall, a pitcher who made the D2CCA and National Fastpitch Coaches Association lists after the 2021 season.
The D2CCA All-America teams, first named in 2007, are selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from schools that play NCAA Division II softball. This year represents the seventh year in which the D2CCA solely sponsored the program.
Brown entered the postseason as the top hitter in the Lone Star Conference, a league that put a Division II-high seven teams (including OC) into the Division II national tournament in 2022. She helped the Eagles post a 39-15 record by hitting .425 with seven home runs, 11 doubles and 45 RBIs. She posted a .692 slugging percentage and a .507 on-base percentage, ranking 10th and fourth, respectively, in the LSC in those categories.
"We are super proud of Aaliyah," OC coach
Shalee Rodriguez said. "This is a huge accomplishment for her and for our team! She had a great year hitting and was very clutch at some key times this season."
Brown is the 15th player in the history of OC's program – which began in 1995 – to receive an All-America honor in either the NAIA, National Christian College Athletic Association or NCAA Division II.
