Eagles learn potential opponents for LSC quarterfinal game

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 9, 2021) – No. 6-ranked Oklahoma Christian will face a revenge game when the Eagles open play in the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament on Thursday at Tom Heath Field.

Top-seeded OC (36-6) – which earned the right to host the 10-team, single-elimination LSC tournament – will face either No. 8 seed Cameron or No. 9 seed St. Mary's (Texas) in a quarterfinal game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Cameron (25-17) and St. Mary's (20-22) will play at 1:30 p.m.

Both Cameron and St. Mary's each split a doubleheader against OC this season, accounting for half of the Eagles' losses in LSC play. Cameron won 6-1 at OC on May 1 before the Eagles rebounded for a 3-1 win in the second game. On March 21, OC won 6-0 at St. Mary's before falling 9-6 in the second game.

As the top seed, OC will have to play only one game a day in the LSC tournament if it continues to advance. A win Thursday would put OC into a semifinal game at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with the championship game set for 2 p.m. Saturday. The tournament winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional tournament, set for May 19-21 in Commerce, Texas.

A Tournament Central page can be found here on the LSC website. Here's the schedule for the tournament, with all games to be played at OC.
