RICHARDSON, Texas - Following a 2-0 weekend, including a road win over then-No. 22 UT Tyler,
Ella Resendiz was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Wednesday, Apr. 22.
Resendiz began her award-winning weekend against Texas Woman's with a relief outing that went all seven innings, entering the game with a 4-0 deficit before leading No. 15 Oklahoma Christian to a 6-4 victory, allowing just three hits while striking out six compared to two walks.
48 hours later, the Purcell, Okla., native snapped No. 22 UT Tyler's 11-game win streak with 6.2 innings of work, allowing just three runs, two of which were earned, on six hits while fanning five.
Resendiz, who is eighth in the conference with a 2.56 ERA, is currently 11-0 in the circle and is on pace to have the highest win percentage by an OC pitcher in program history on a minimum of 10 decisions, with 2022 Lindsey Stoeckel holding the record with a .917 percentage (11-1).
No. 15 Oklahoma Christian (37-11, 28-8 LSC) has four games remaining in the regular season as it seeks to become the first team in program history to log a 40-win regular season. The Eagles reached 42 wins in 2014 and 40 in 2019, capturing their 40+ win(s) in the postseason.
