OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 5, 2020) – NextGen Under 30 has named Oklahoma Christian women's basketball assistant coach Keeton Peery to its 2020 honor list.

According to its website, the NextGen Under 30 program is in its 10th year and "recognizes the next generation of Oklahoma's innovative, creative and inspiring individuals who push the boundaries in 15 categories of human endeavor."

One of those categories is "Sports and Outdoors" and Peery was nominated, and honored in that area.

Peery, from Lindsay, joined OC's staff as the women's basketball strength and conditioning coach with the 2017-18 season, overseeing program design and implementation for all aspects of performance enhancement.

Prior to joining the Lady Eagles, Peery spent three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, serving as the NBA franchise's youth basketball coordinator. He also spent time as strength and conditioning coach with Performance Course, overseeing programs at Oklahoma Baptist University and Washington High School in Washington, Okla.

He graduated from Central Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in public relations and a master's degree in Exercise Science. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Don Swift, the publisher of ionOklahoma, created the NextGen Under 30 award program in 2011. In its 10 years of existence, the program has named more than 1,500 winners from more than 400 companies or organizations throughout Oklahoma.

Peery and his fellow honorees will be recognized with a "Day at the State Capitol" on Oct. 19 and in an award ceremony on Jan. 22 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Norman.
