Bain to join OC basketball, softball programs as 2nd-generation Eagle

Comanche High School standout Brooklin Bain will play two sports at OC.
COMANCHE, Okla. (Nov. 14, 2019) – Brooklin Bain, the daughter of a former Oklahoma Christian basketball standout, has signed to compete in both basketball and softball for OC, OC basketball coach Stephanie Findley said Thursday.

Bain, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard from Comanche, earned All-State honors in softball this fall and was named as the Duncan Banner's All-Area player of the year in basketball following her junior season.

She is the daughter of Misti (Mitchell) Bain, a NAIA All-America honorable mention selection in 1993 for the Lady Eagles. Misti Bain, a two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference first-team honoree while playing for Findley, is an assistant coach for her daughter's high school team.

Brooklin Bain will be the second daughter of a former player that Findley will have the opportunity to coach, joining Chandler Coale, the daughter of former OC standout (and current Oklahoma head coach) Sherri Coale, who played for the Eagles in the 2014-15 season.

"Brooklin is an outstanding athlete," Findley said. "She can play any position. She's a long player with excellent speed and quickness. What we like about her most is her aggressiveness and willingness to play physical. She's a strong rebounder who can score in a variety of ways. It's very exciting for me to get the opportunity to coach a legacy player. In many ways, she does remind me of her mom, but she is her own person and her own player. She is Brooklin and I can't wait to coach her!"

Comanche has enjoyed much success in basketball during Brooklin Bain's career, finishing 27-1 and reaching the Class 3A title game in 2017 and going 27-3 with a trip to the 3A semifinals in 2018. The Indians went 18-9 last season, with Bain averaging 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Similarly, Comanche fared well in softball with Bain on the roster, going 25-9 in 2016, 20-11 in 2017, 25-10 in 2018 and 22-9 this season. Bain became Comanche's first Oklahoma High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-State softball selection in 10 seasons, hitting .503 with 13 home runs, 33 RBIs, 42 stolen bases and a .636 on-base percentage. As a pitcher, she posted a 12-4 record.

"Brooklin is a super prospect and we are excited for the opportunity to work with her," OC softball coach Shanon Hays said. "She is a talented middle infielder who can pitch as well. I was very impressed with her athleticism. She clearly has the ability to be a two-sport athlete."

Bain is the first signee for OC's women's basketball team for the 2020-21 season and the third for the softball team, joining Tara Stewart of Ovilla, Texas, and Whitney Walde of Oklahoma City. Both Findley and Hays said more signings will be announced in the coming days.
