Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY (March 16, 2015) –
Kyle Lacy's two-run single to right field in the bottom of the ninth inning capped a three-run rally that gave Oklahoma Christian a 6-5 win over East Central on Monday night at Dobson Field.
The rally ended what had been a back-and-forth affair between OC (11-9) and East Central (11-8), who had hastily rescheduled the baseball game for Monday after an originally scheduled game between the teams in Ada was rained out last Tuesday.
OC jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning on run-scoring doubles by
Ben McKenzie and
Jackson Matthews off East Central starter Quentin McGrath. The Eagles rode that lead until the fifth inning, when Casey Chenoweth hit a solo home run for East Central. The Tigers pulled even in the sixth on a RBI single by David Terrazas.
In the eighth, East Central took a 3-2 led on Terrazas' run-scoring double, but the Eagles answered in the bottom of the inning, as
Derek Jones walked and eventually scored on an error to tie the game.
The Tigers seized control again in the top of the ninth when Garrett Donohoe delivered a two-run double to make it 5-3, but the Eagles weren't yet done.
Facing East Central reliever Merrick Ardoin (0-1),
Austin Orth drew a leadoff walk and
Cody Rosecrans followed with another walk.
Zac Cobble singled to load the bases. Pinch-runner
Luke Sandoval scored on a balk by Ardoin and Lacy then singled to bring home Rosecrans and Cobble.
OC reliever
Garett Hill (2-1) threw the ninth inning to earn the pitching win.
The Eagles will have a quick turnaround, hosting longtime archrival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
