Eagles finish 3-game sweep of MidAmerica Nazarene with 4-1 win

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 9, 2013) – Garrett Guys went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Kelby Reneau and Chris Burgess combined on a three-hitter as Oklahoma Christian completed a three-game sweep of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) with a 4-1 win on Saturday at Dobson Field.

A second scheduled game between OC (11-7) and MNU (6-9) was cancelled due to rain in the bottom of the second inning.

The Pioneers jumped ahead 1-0 in the first, thanks to some nifty baserunning by Joe Smith, who walked and stole second and third before coming home as teammate Tyler Meeks stole second base.

OC answered in the bottom of the inning against MNU starter Trent Hedlund (1-2). The Eagles' first five batters reached base, with Guys delivering a two-run single to center field after Jordan Lopez scored on a passed ball to tie the game.

Lopez walked in the fourth and eventually scored on another single by Guys, making it 4-1.

Reneau (1-0) retired 10 straight batters in one stretch and allowed two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings. Burgess pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his fifth save of the baseball season.
