Baseball Edged in Series Finale to (RV) Buffaloes, 5-3

CANYON, Texas - After taking game one of the four-game series against (RV) West Texas A&M, Oklahoma Christian dropped both ends of yesterday's doubleheader before falling in Sunday's finale, 5-3.

Brett McComas and Evan Ballast each earned no-decisions on the mound, pitching the four innings while holding WT to just one run, allowing five hits. Four of the Buffaloes' five runs came in the first four innings.

Hunter Sandifer (1-for-3) and Tanner Forbus (1-for-3) each reached base twice following a hit and a walk, with both players recording an RBI. Sandifer finished his weekend hitting .500 (5-for-10), while recording four RBI and three runs scored.

Sandifer and Forbus each recorded their RBI in the second inning as Oklahoma Christian held a brief 2-0 lead before West Texas responded with a three-run bottom of the second. A lead-off triple from Trey Migl yielded a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the third, 3-3, before WT moved ahead once again in the fourth, 4-3.

While West Texas A&M had already seen 80 percent of its scoring up to that point, the Eagle offense claimed just two more hits the final six frames. The maroon-and-gray, now trailing 5-3 in the ninth, saw the go-ahead run come to the plate with one out to spare, but a ground-out put an end to the threat, 5-3,

Oklahoma Christian (9-21, 9-21 LSC) will return to Dobson Baseball Field this weekend for a four-game series against Eastern New Mexico beginning Friday, Mar. 27 at 5 p.m. CT.
