OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Nov. 8, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian beat Texas Wesleyan 71-57 on Homecoming Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the 2008-09 season.
The Lady Eagles came out strong in a closely-contested first half. At the 5:44 mark of the first half, Lisa Chenoweth hit two free throws to spark a 13-3 run for Lady Eagles to make the score 37-22.
Texas Wesleyan cut the Lady Eagle lead to eight points by halftime, to make the score 37-29.
It was much of the same back-and-forth battle in the second half, with the Lady Eagles maintaining their lead.Â
The Lady Eagles pushed the edge to 18 points when Tarynn Branscum found Brittney Kennedy to make the 58-40.
The Lady Eagles led by as many as 20 points and finished the game on top 71-57.
Chenoweth led the Lady Eagles with 12 points, followed by Hillary Duncan with 11 points and Kennedy with 10 points.
Duncan also led the team with nine rebounds and Branscum led the Lady Eagles with three assists.
OC sunk an eye-opening 33-of-42 free throws to 18-of-28 for TWU. Both teams had 18 field goals with OC going 18-for-47 and TWU 18-for-60 from the field.
The Lady Eagles play Hillsdale Baptist (Okla.) at 6 p.m. on Monday before traveling to Norman, Okla., to play perennial NCAA power Oklahoma at 7 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center.
