No. 18 Oklahoma Christian lost in the Orthopedic Solutions Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals 83-75 to Southern Nazarene University Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles are 22-7 overall after finishing one game out of first place in the SAC's final standings. OC has already clinched a berth in the NAIA National Tournament in Jackson, Tenn., March 14-20.
The semifinal matchup began at a frenzied pace with six lead changes and two ties in the opening seven minutes and neither team taking more than a three point advantage.
Rachel Martin buried three treys in the first six minutes and after a Katie Fariss three-pointer at the 13:06 mark, the Lady Eagles did not trail again in the first half.
OC took its largest lead at the 3:07 mark when Danielle Cox put back a miss to make the score 40-27. SNU went on an 8-2 run in the final 2:12 to bring the score to 44-38 at intermission.
OC shot an even 50 percent (14-28) in the first half, including 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range.
The Crimson Storm began the second half on a 7-0 run to take the lead at 45-44 when Tejana Elmore scored with 17:22 on the clock. The Lady Eagles answered the charge with a three-pointer by Mackenzie Walker to regain the lead with 17:00 left.
OC and SNU traded a tie and two lead changes over the next 2:30 before Fatou Ndiaye's three-point play gave the Crimson Storm the lead for good with 14:38 remaining.
The Lady Eagles clawed back to within two points on two occasions, but could not overcome the deficit. SNU shot 57 percent in the second half to earn the eight-point victory.
SAC Co-Player of the Year/Defensive Player of the Year Martin scored 18 points in her final home game while First-Team All-SAC Selection Fariss netted 19 and grabbed six rebounds.
Cox scored a career-high 16 while Lindsey Gipson added 11. Ndiaye led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.
