Lady Eagles Upset No. 4 OCU

In a stirring upset, Oklahoma Christian defeated No. 4 ranked Oklahoma City University by a 78-75 count in the Eagles Nest Feb. 12.

Sophomore Katie Fariss' long distance scoring and clutch shooting by Tasha Turney in the closing minutes triggered the Lady Eagles' victory. Freshman Kelly Brown's free throw with 18 second left put OC ahead 76-75 and junior Lauren Decker converted two free throws with nine second to play to cement the win.

OC broke a 13 game winning streak of OCU and improved its hold on second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference race with a 10-4 record. The Lady Eagles are 20-7 on the season and ranked No. 12 in the NAIA.

Fariss led the Lady Eagles with 21 points and 10 rebounds, including 5 of 8 shooting from three-point range. Decker followed with 19 points and 10 assists and Turney finished with 15 points, connecting 7 of 8 attempts from the field.
