Lady Eagles win 70-54 at Texas Wesleyan

FT. WORTH, Texas (Nov. 21, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian picked up its second win of the season over Texas Wesleyan by a 70-54 score on Friday night in Ft. Worth. The win takes the Lady Eagles to 5-0 on the year.

Brittney Kennedy led OC with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.

Friday's victory comes just 13 days after OC beat TWU 71-57 in the Eagles' Nest on Nov. 8. The Lady Eagles are now 9-1 all time against the Lady Rams with eight straight wins in the series.

OC erased a double-digit first-half deficit for the second-straight game after being down by as many as 11 points on Friday night. Texas Wesleyan's biggest first half lead came at 30-19 with 2:04 left before halftime.

The Lady Rams led 32-23 at the break.

But OC stormed back in the second half, outscoring TWU 47-22 on 19-of-30 (63 percent) shooting from the field.

With TWU up 41-35 with 14:45 left in the game, OC went on a 10-0 spree to take the lead for good.

Lisa Chenoweth scored off an assist from Kailan DeCamp to tie it at 41-41 with 12:43 left. Then Hillary Duncan put OC on top 43-41 with 11:59 remaining. Duncan and Kennedy had four points in the rally while Chenoweth added another bucket.

The Lady Rams hung around and whittled the lead down to two on two occasions over the next three minutes. But OC was too much and swelled its lead into double figures when freshman Katy Clift canned a three pointer with 4:50 to go to give the Lady Eagles a 58-48 lead.

OC held TWU to just two points in the final 4:30 to pick up the 16-point win.

Chenoweth finished with 13 points and DeCamp added 10 points and seven assists. Duncan charted nine points and six rebounds in the win.

Brittany Turner paced the Lady Rams with 16 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Eagles begin Sooner Athletic Conference play on Monday against Northwestern Oklahoma State inside the Eagles' Nest. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. with the men's game following at 8 p.m.
