The Oklahoma Christian women made it all the way to the finals of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament before running into a second-half blowout against Oklahoma City University Tuesday night, losing 70-50.

OCU had beaten OC in their two meetings this year, but had to go to overtime to defeat the Lady Eagles in the regular-season finale.

On Tuesday, Lauren Decker got the Lady Eagles fired up warly in the first half, hitting a short jumper on OC's first trip down the court.

Decker led the Lady Eagles with 11 points in the first half and finished with 17.

"She was fired up, came out and had her jumper falling," said OC head coach Stephanie Findley, whose team was in the SAC tourney finals for just the second time since 1994.

Nearly midway through the first half, OC built a nine-point lead. But OCU slowly cut the lead through the rest of the half and tied it up with a minute to go before the break.

OCU took a brief two-point lead in the final seconds of the half, but Decker ended the opening period the way she started it, draining a short jumper with 13 seconds left in regulation.

The Stars began the second half on a 6-0 run to regain the lead and outscored the Lady Eagles 23-3 over the first 10 minutes of the period.

"They started hitting them and we were ice cold," Findley said. "We are not going to win games where we don't shoot well."

Both the Lady Eagles and Stars, who added the SAC tournament titles to their regular-season crown, will compete in the 32-team NAIA national tournament beginning next week.
