CHICKASHA, Okla. (Jan. 28, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian never trailed, but was tested in a 62-50 win at Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Thursday night.

OC led by as many as 24 points in the second half, but a second-half USAO rally brought the Lady Drovers within six points with under three minutes to play.

"We were relaxed tonight and executed our offense very well. We had a let down in the second half, but it was good to see our team fight them off and hold on to that lead," OC head coach Stephanie Findley said.

OC opened the game on an 8-1 run Monday thanks to a Haley Myers three-pointer and five points from Devin Sewell.

Sewell's conventional three-point play at the 15:29 mark made it 8-1.

Six straight USAO points cut OC's lead to 8-7 at 13:23, but the Lady Eagles netted seven straight points of their own to open up a 15-7 edge.

After a Lady Drover score at the 9:46 point, another Lady Eagle scoring jaunt extended the lead further.

This time, OC rattled off a 14-2 charge that built the lead to 18 points by the 4:47 mark. Brittney Kennedy scored four points in less than 30 seconds to cap the rally and put the Lady Eagles up 29-11.

Myers' triple with 28 seconds left sent OC to the locker room with its largest lead of the half at 35-16.

USAO fought back to within 14 at 36-22 with a 6-1 rally to start the second half. But OC fired back with 10 unanswered points.

DeCamp's score in the lane with 15:29 left upped the bulge to its largest of the game at 46-22.

But the Lady Drovers would not go quietly.

USAO outscored OC 25-8 over the next 12 minutes and pulled within six at 54-48 on Juliana Leite's free throws with 2:57 to go.

A Myers backdoor layup and six charity tosses from Gipson in the final 2:44 gave OC an 8-2 run to close the game and secured the 12-point win.

Danielle Cox scored nine points in the game, while Heron added seven points and snagged six rebounds.

The victory was OC's second of the season over USAO after a Nov. 29 win at OC. The Lady Eagles have won 10 of their last 12 meetings with the Lady Drovers.
