The 10th-ranked Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles ran their perfect conference record to 7-0 and their overall record to 14-4 with a 69-46 victory over Wayland Baptist University here Jan. 21.
OC shot 59 percent from the field in the first half and 46 percent for the game.
The Lady Eagles opened the second half with a 13-2 run, beginning with a Rachel Martin three-pointer. Carlissa Plowden scored with 13:30 to play, upping OC's lead to 55-30 and the Lady Eagles coasted home.
The Lady Eagles received a balanced scoring effort led by senior Plowden's 17 points. Lauren Decker added 14 while Tasha Turney had 13 points and Martin 12.
In men's action, the 17th-ranked Eagles lost in the final seconds to the 14th-ranked Pioneers, dropping their record to 4-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and 14-4 overall.
OC led 31-25 at the half, but Wayland Baptist made five three-pointers in the second half and OC went nearly five-and-a-half minutes without a field goal.
With the game tied at 55 in the final minute, Keith Harris missed a three-pointer. Kendrick Jackson grabbed an off-balance offensive rebound, but was ruled out of bounds with 17 seconds to play.
On the ensuing possession, WBU's Kendall Webb penetrated and scored with three seconds left to lift the Pioneers to the 57-55 victory.
Webb led all scorers with 19 points. OC's Keith Harris recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Page scored 10 points and dished out six assists.
The Eagles' and Lady Eagles' next games will be this Thursday when they travel to Alva, Okla., to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Both teams will return home to host conference rival Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Jan. 28.
