SHAWNEE, Okla. (Jan. 3, 2008) - Oklahoma Christian hit nine three pointers and shot 57 percent from the field Thursday en route to a 76-53 handling of St. Gregory's in Sooner Athletic Conference play.

Jason Taylor dropped a game-high 23 points for the Eagles while snagging eight rebounds. Freshman Jeff Crocker scored a career-best 19 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the arc.

Crocker scored the Eagles' first eight points Thursday. The Sugar Land, Texas, native buried a three pointer 17 seconds into the game to give OC a 3-0 lead. The Eagles would not relinquish the advantage all night.

In the women's game, Oklahoma Christian picked up its third Sooner Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 62-46 win over St. Gregory's.

The victory jumped OC to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in SAC play.

Danielle Cox led all scorers with 13 points. The sophomore poured in 12 first-half points.

"It's always good to come out with a win after Christmas Break," OC head coach Stephanie Findley said. "You never know what to expect, so I'm pleased with the way we played."

The Lady Eagles trailed just once in the game and took the advantage for good on Brittney Kennedy's jumper at the 18:36 mark. The lead was extended to double digits at 16-6 when Cox hit a spinning layup at 12:15.

SGU's Mandy Tackett knocked down two three pointers at the 8:44 and 8:03 points to bring the Lady Cavaliers to within six, but the Lady Eagles answered with a 14-4 run.
Hillary Duncan and Kailan DeCamp got the rant started with two three-pointers in a 30-second span from 7:49 to 7:19. Cox and Haley Myers provided two more buckets and when Cressi Bryant buried a trey at 4:58 the Lady Eagle lead was 32-16.

Devin Sewell and Cox combined for seven points in the closing 30 seconds to give OC a 39-26 halftime edge.

The Lady Eagles started the second half strong by outscoring the Lady Cavaliers 10-2 in the opening 7:30.

SGU charged to within 10 at the 6:19 mark, but once again OC flushed the run with a 9-0 scoring jaunt of their own.

DeCamp and Myers poured in six quick points from the 5:50 to 5:10 marks. The run continued with a Charlotte Heron score and Jordan Findley free throw.

OC won the second half 23-20 en route to the 16-point victory.

Cox was the only Lady Eagle in double figures with Duncan next on the list with eight. DeCamp chipped in seven while Lindsey Gipson, Myers, Kennedy and Bryant each added six.

"We've been focusing on sharing the ball and scoring," Findley said. "Tonight Danielle stepped up and led us, but it's a good thing to spread out our scoring."

The Lady Eagles and Eagles get just one day off before hosting conference rival and nationally-ranked Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday. The Lady Bison enter the game ranked No. 6, with the Bison holding the nation's No. 5 ranking. The women's game will tip at 6 p.m. prior to the men's action at 8 p.m.
