Lady Eagles push past John Brown

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Jan. 4, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles added another win to their season with a 56-50 conference victory over John Brown University (Ark.) on Monday night.

After being down 1-0 early in the game, Lisa Chenoweth nailed a trey to give the Lady Eagles a lead they never yielded and started a 12-2 run for the OC women. The Lady Eagles held a consistent lead through most of the first half until the John Brown women came within three points with 13 seconds left in the half.

The Lady Eagles finished the half in the lead with a 27-21 lead after Katy Clift made a steal and Chenoweth hit another three-point basket before time ran out.

The OC women came back out during the second half scoring six unanswered points before John Brown got a score on the board. With 12:41 left in the game, the Lady Eagles had increased their lead to 15 points at a score of 40-25.

As time ticked away, the John Brown women worked their way to within four points of the Lady Eagles with only 1:48 left on the clock. The Lady Eagles saw it to the end, however, and finished with their sixth straight victory winning 56-50.

Chenoweth paced the Lady Eagles for the second game in a row tallying 19 points and grabbing seven rebounds during the match. OC's Kailan DeCamp made big contributions alongside Chenoweth putting up 12 points, making five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Freshman Roz Hamilton kept the Lady Eagles valuable in the paint adding an additional eight points to OC's score. Lindsay McCown also helped control the paint putting up six points and grabbing five boards for the night.

The Lady Eagles improve their record to 12-2 overall and 5-1 for conference play.

The OC women return to the Eagles' Nest for Thursday's women's and men's double header against Southern Nazarene University (Okla.). The women will tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
