
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Jan. 16, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women's basketball team left no doubt in Saturday night's game against Mid-America Christian University Nazarene coming away with a 102-69 victory.
Lisa Chenoweth started things off for the OC women with a quick layup on the Lady Eagles' first possession. The Mid-America women returned the favor with a three-pointer by Brittany Prandy, before OC's Roz Hamilton nailed a long trey to put the Lady Eagles ahead.
The Lady Eagles never trailed MACU again. The Lady Eagles led 40-36 with 2:45 left in the half and then went on an 11-3 run to end the period at 51-39. Kaitlyn Morris topped off the run with a deep three-point basket at the buzzer.
Leading by 12 points at the half, the Lady Eagles never allowed the Lady Evangels within 11 during the second and led by as much as 34 points. With 9:19 left in the game, the Lady Eagles went on a 12-3 run to lead the Lady Evangels 84-57 before bringing in their bench.
The Lady Eagle reserves continued the scoring frenzy to the game's end and surpassed the 100-point mark for the first time this season. The OC women shot with impressive 70 percent accuracy from the field to win 102-69.
Morris led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 13 points hitting three out of four from behind the arc. Additionally, Morris made two steals and two assists.
Chenoweth, Hamilton, and Lindsay McCown each put up 12 points for the Lady Eagles with McCown pulling down eight rebounds as well. Chenoweth also made four assists and two steals.
Krista Stevens added 10 points to the OC women's score and helped maintain possession making five steals. Hillary Duncan and Katy O'Steen scored nine points apiece with Duncan passing out four assists.
The Lady Eagles advance to 14-4 and 7-3 for conference play. The OC basketball teams head to Texas next week to play Lubbock Christian University (Texas) on Thursday. The women's game starts at 6 p.m. with the men's to follow at 8 p.m.
