SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 1, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles lost a 67-57 decision on Monday night against Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
The Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison took the first lead of the game with a 5-0 start before the Lady Eagles responded with a 5-0 run to tie it up 15:42 left in the first half.
The Lady Bison held the lead through the first half but the Lady Eagles held right behind them through the majority of the half before the OBU women pulled to a seven-point lead at 21-14 before the period's end.
The Lady Eagles struggled from the field during the first period shooting with only 18 percent accuracy.
At the start of the second half, OC's Brittney Kennedy hit a two-point jumper before the Lady Bison took off on a 17-5 run to lead 38-21 only five minutes into the half.
The Lady Eagles exchanged baskets for much of the half trailing by as many as 19 points during the second period. With 4:51 left in the period the Lady Eagles trailed the Lady Bison 60-46 before they rallied together to go on an 11-2 run putting them within five of OBU.
With just 26 seconds remaining, OBU's Taujhnae Travis scored breaking the Lady Eagle's run before the Lady Bison finished out the game with a ten-point margin at 67-57.
Reserves Katy Clift and Lindsay McCown led the Lady Eagles' scoring for the night with 12 points apiece.
Despite their difficulty shooting from the field, the Lady Eagles shot 92 percent from the free throw line hitting 22 out of 24 attempts.
The Lady Eagles now hold a 15-6 overall record with an 8-5 conference record.
The OC basketball teams will host the University of Science and Arts on Thursday with the women tipping off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
