
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Jan. 14, 2010) – Both Oklahoma Christian basketball teams fell to Oklahoma City University on Thursday night in the Eagles' Nest. The women lost 68-49 while the men added a tough 73-50 loss to their season.
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles started out behind and were unable to recover. The Lady Eagles struggled to score during the first half scoring only eight points before heading to the locker room.
The Lady Eagles played a solid second period outscoring the Stars 41-39. Despite such, it was not enough to regain the ground lost during the first half leaving the Lady Eagles with a 68-49 loss.
Lisa Chenoweth headed up the Lady Eagles' scoring putting down 16 points for the night. Chenoweth also made two steals and two assists. Katy O'Steen added 11 points off the bench to the Lady Eagles' score in an effort to help regain ground.
The OC women are now 13-4 overall and carry a 6-3 conference record.
The men's game seemed to repeat the women's with the Eagles struggling to score during the first half. Despite shooting 40 percent from the field, the Eagles only put up 25 points to Oklahoma City's 42, leaving the Stars up by 17 going into halftime.
During the second half, the Eagles held the Stars to 31 points but only put up 25 of their own falling to 33 percent from the field for the period.
Andre Vaughn and Jason Taylor scored the majority of the Eagles' points putting up 17 apiece. Taylor grabbed seven boards for the Eagles and made two assists and a steal.
The loss is only the Eagles' second for the season and they now hold a 15-2 overall record with a 7-2 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The OC basketball teams turn to the road for their next four matches with a double header against Mid-America Christian University coming up on Saturday. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
