Albuquerque, N.M. - On the first day of the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, both
Solomon Ross and
Katie Bosley set new school records, the OC men swept the top-three finishes in the weight throw, and two Eagles were awarded conference champions in their respective event.
Women
Laniyah Curry defended her title in the long jump, winning the 2026 LSC Long Jump Championship with a final jump of 19-10.75 (6.06m). Following Curry was Bosley, who broke her own school record with a 400 meter dash time of 56.28 seconds in the prelims Friday, Feb. 27, breaking her old record by 21 hundredths of a second.
In the 60 meter dash prelims, a pair of true freshman in
Nyla Bentley (7.58) and
Hadleigh Harp (7.63) placed second and third overall, respectively, to earn a spot in tomorrow's finals.
Men
The Championships started out with a bang for the men as
Solomon Ross (57-10.25),
Kameron Shropshire (55-7) and
Phil Lawrence (55-5.75) went one, two, three in the weight throw, sweeping the top-three spots as Ross claimed the conference crown. In route to victory, Ross smashed the 22-year old former school record of 56-2.75 by nearly two whole yards.
