RICHARDSON, Texas - After competing at the JD Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla., this past weekend,
Laniyah Curry and
Solomon Ross were named the Lone Star Conference Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Sophomore Curry had an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 19-5.46 (5.93m) in the long jump at the Invitational. The jump ranks 13th in the entire country. Curry, who finished behind only Division I competitors, also competed in the 60-meters.
Fellow sophomore Ross recorded the top weight throw toss in the conference this season with a 53-11.24 (16.44m) at the same Invitational. It was a personal best for Ross, who finished behind a pair of NCAA Division I athletes in the event.
Oklahoma Christian will compete at the Pittsburg State Invitational Saturday, Jan. 31 in its currently scheduled second-to-last meet of the regular season.
