Curry, Ahmed Provisional Marks, Male Throwers Lead LSC After JD Martin Invite

NORMAN, Okla. - After Oklahoma Christian made its second trip to the University of Oklahoma in the past week, Laniyah Curry reached a provisional mark while Eagle throwers Phil Lawrence, Solomon Ross and Kameron Shropshire own the top three marks in the conference in the men's weight throw.

Curry started out the day with a 5.93 meter (19-5.46) jump, earning herself a national provisional mark after placing eighth in the event. Laila Ahmed garnered her second provisional mark of the season and first of 2026 with a tied-for-third 1.68 meter (5-6.14 feet) high jump.

Addison Bartlett represented the women throwers for OC, getting fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.77 meters (48-5.5 feet)

In the final event of the meet, Solomon Ross and Kameron Shropshire posted personal bests in the weight throw with distances of 16.44 meters (53-11.24) and 16.18 meters (53-1.01), respectively.

As of Thursday, Jan. 22, Lawrence, who is the reigning Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week, Ross and Shropshire own the top three weight throw marks in the conference.

Oklahoma Christian will leave the state one more time this regular season when it heads to Pittsburg State for the PSU Invitational Saturday, Jan. 31.
