PORTALES, N.M. -Â The Oklahoma Christian men's and women's track and field teams finished up the final day of the 2025 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.Â
Alex Samples delivered another strong performance to take third place in the men's long jump to go along with his championship-winning performance in the high jump and sixth place finish in the triple jump. Samples launched himself out to 7.44m for the bronze and is currently ranked 20th in the nation with the top-22 getting an automatic selection to the National Championships, which will take place in three weeks.Â
Laniyah Curry had a busy day with both the long jump and 100m finals. Curry placed fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.90m and fourth in the 100m with a time of 11.95s. With Curry comfortably qualified for the National Championships, she will now turn her attention to Pueblo, Colo., where she will compete for a national title.
The Woman's 4x100 team consisting of Curry as well as
Katie Bosley,
Aaliyah Haugh and
Jamie Morgan, finished in fifth place with a time of 46.97s.
In the men's javelin, Ryan Chacon finished in fifth place with a throw of 48.72m and in the other throwing final of the day, Phillip Lawrence finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 14.76m.Â
The final team scores saw the women place ninth with 21 points and the men place seventh with 38 points.Â
That concludes the majority of the Eagles season as we look to Nationals in three weeks where we will see
