RICHARDSON, Texas - The Oklahoma Christian men's and women's outdoor track and field teams put four overall student-athletes on the All-Lone Star Conference teams with
Alex Samples and
Phil Lawrence representing for the men and
Laniyah Curry and
Laila Ahmed for the women.
Additionally, Samples, Curry and Ahmed received 2025 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-South Central Region honors. Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.
On the conference front, the first team consists of event winners, including all members of the winning relay teams and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships. The all-conference second team consists of all members of the second-place relay teams and athletes scoring 8-13.9 points. The all-conference third team consists of all members of the third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.
Samples earned First Team honors and All-Region recognition after winning the conference title in the high jump with a jump of 1.99 meters (6-6.25). Samples also finished third in the long jump with a distance of 7.44 meters (24-5) for 19 total points, which was just 1.5 points off the LSC Outstanding Field Athlete, which is given to the highest point earner of the meet.
Lawrence earned Third Team All-Conference honors with six points after garnering three points with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.05 meters (157-08) while grabbing another three points in the shot put with a sixth-place, 14.76 meter (48-5.25) heave.
On the women's side,
Laniyah Curry placed on the All-Conference Second Team with 10 points, joining only two other freshman to be receive Second Team honors. Curry placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.95), fifth in the long jump (5.90m) and fifth in the 4x100 relay (46.97). Adding to her Second Team recognition is her second All-Region accolade of her freshman campaign after earning such honors during the Indoor LSC Championships, where she was also named a First Team performer.
Laila Ahmed joined Lawrence for the men with a Third Team nod following a third-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.67m (5-5.75) - four inches off the Oklahoma Christian school record. This is Ahmed's second Third Team honor of her freshman campaign after landing on the same team during the indoor season.
