EDMOND, Okla. - With just four games remaining before the Lone Star Conference Tournament, No. 16 Oklahoma Christian will meet No. 3 UT Tyler for games three and four of the season series Friday, Apr. 25 starting at 4 p.m.
EAGLE OUTLOOK (35-15, 28-12 LSC)
In OC's final home games of the 2025 campaign, the maroon-and-gray locked up the No. 4 seed in the LSC Tournament, sitting five-games clear of five-seed Lubbock Christian while being four-games back of No. 7 Angelo State, which won the season series against the Eagles already. This is the third year in a row OC has been a top-four seed in the conference tournament.
All that is remaining for Oklahoma Christian in the regular season is an opportunity to post wins two and three over NFCA Top-20 competition. Including teams receiving votes at the time, OC is 4-9 in such contests this season, with three of those losses have come by two or fewer runs.
Continuing to lead the offense for the Eagles is two-time Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week
Marti Yaerger, who is top-20 in the conference in batting average (.386), hits (61) and stolen bases (10). Yaerger needs just two hits Friday to have the most hits in a single season for an OC player since Madison Nordyke in 2018 (64).
In the season's first two meetings between Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler, the Eagles held an early 2-0 lead on the then-No. 1 Patriots before UTT scored 12 unanswered for the 12-2 victory.
Kallie Rupp (2-for-3) and
Kadence Brewster (2-for-2) each logged multiple hits in the game-one effort. In the 16-game all-time series, OC has never beaten Tyler on their home field.Â
SCOUTING No. 3 UT Tyler (45-4, 36-4 LSC)
No. 3 UT Tyler enters the final week of the 2025 regular season tabbed No. 1 in the South Central Region rankings while being currently slotted No. 2 in the LSC standings. The Patriots are currently two games out of hosting the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed, needing to finish these last four contests two games better than No. 1 West Texas A&M.
Tyler still owns one of the premier pitching staffs in the nation with a 1.13 team-ERA while being second in the conference in team batting average (.350). The Patriots' three starting pitchers - Kaylee Davis (0.77), Cera Blanchard (1.01) and Primrose Aholelei (1.58) - are among the league's top four in ERA. At the plate, JT Smith is tied for the league-lead with a .500 batting average while boasting 74 hits, which is tied for 10th in NCAA Division II.
