Senior Day Sunday for No. 19 Softball Against Kingsville

EDMOND, Okla. - No. 19 Oklahoma Christian will finish its weekend off with a doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville Sunday, Apr. 13 at 12 p.m. Following the completion of game one, OC will recognize seniors Grace Anderson, Kate Paulsen and Karsyn Iltis as part of Sunday's Senior Day festivities.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (29-15, 22-12 LSC)
No. 19 Oklahoma Christian completed its season sweep of Texas A&M International Friday, Apr. 11. After posting its third shutout of the Dustdevils on the year, TAMIU scored its first runs against the Eagles in the second inning of the season series finale. The Eagles overcame the 3-1 deficit to win in walk-off fashion, 4-3.

Freshmen Marti Yaerger (7-for-8) and Victoria Brazil (3-for-5) combined to go 10-for-13 with a total 7 RBI in the twin bill. Yaerger became the first Eagle to record seven total hits in a two-game stretch since Jaiden Johnson in 2020. Yaerger leads the team with 56 hits and, with 10 games remaining in the regular season, is on pace to reach 69 hits, which would would be the second-most single-season hits in OC's NCAA DII era, postseason included.

Anderson prepares for her sixth and fifth-final home game Sunday with 403 career strikeouts as she is currently fourth in career strikeouts in program history. The Tishomingo, Okla., native needs 36 strikeouts to move past Madison Hagood (2016-19) for third all-time.

In the season's first meetings against Kingsville, Oklahoma Christian outscored the Javelinas in the two games, 9-1. In game-one's 6-1 victory, Jill Dickson claimed the win in the circle while also hitting a three-run home run. The twin-bill sweep moved the Eagles ahead in the all-time series, 12-11.

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE (20-25, 15-19 LSC)
In the first part of Texas A&M-Kingsville's Sooner State road trip, the Javelinas split the doubleheader against Cameron, taking the first contest, 3-2, before dropping the day's second meeting, 5-4. With 10 games remaining, TAMUK needs five more conference victories to win 20 LSC games for the fourth straight year.

Graduate student Lindsey Evans is the biggest threat in the Kingsville lineup, hitting a team-best .415 while holding team-bests in slugging (.689) and on-base percentage (.530). As a team, TAMUK's biggest strength is its pitching with a combined ERA of 3.39 for fifth in the LSC. All five Javelina pitchers with at least 10 appearances have a sub-5.00 ERA.
