EDMOND, Okla. - No. 19 Oklahoma Christian opens an eight-game home stand beginning Friday, Apr. 11 with Texas A&M International as the Eagles make their way back through the Lone Star Conference East Division. First pitch of the doubleheader against the Dustdevils is set for 3 p.m.
EAGLE OUTLOOK (27-15, 20-12 LSC)
Oklahoma Christian returns to Tom Heath Field after splitting the season series against Cameron. Following 6-3 and 4-3 victories over CU at the Lawson Softball Complex last Friday, the Aggies got revenge on OC down in Lawton Sunday, 8-3 and 6-3. The four-game split now has the Eagles 14-6 at home and 10-8 in true road games in 2025.
Despite the loss in the series finale against Cameron, OC saw its best hitting percentage in defeat that day, batting .344 with 11 hits, including four doubles, two of which came from
Marti Yaerger. Yaerger leads the team with 14 multi-hit games this season. In conference play, Yaerger also joins
Kiley Brewster with a team-high seven doubles while both the true freshman and
Kadence Brewster pace the group with 19 RBI in such games.
With 12 games remaining in the regular season, Oklahoma Christian is currently fourth in the LSC standings. Though sitting third right now in the east division, final tournament seeding goes off overall conference record, of which the Eagles have the fourth best in the league. Four of OC's six remaining opponents have a league-record of .500 or better.
In the season's first meeting against Texas A&M International, the Eagles went to Laredo, Texas, and shut out the Dustdevils, 3-0 and 1-0.
Jill Dickson started off that day with a three-hit complete-game shutout before
Grace Anderson ended it with a seven-hit shutout in game two. Yaerger used a two-out RBI-double to plate the eventual game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning. Â
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL (22-21, 16-16 LSC)
Texas A&M International comes to the Sooner State after taking three of four against Oklahoma Christian's Sunday opponent, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. In the three victories, the Dustdevils allowed just two total runs, allowing them to reach 16 conference victories for the first time since 2021.
Junior infielder Kennedy Griego has started all 43 games for TAMIU this year as she leads the team with a .411 batting average while being sixth in the LSC with 58 hits and tied for ninth with 12 doubles. Behind her, however, is just one other player hitting better than .300 among players with at least 20 starts in sophomore infielder Queenandra Dunn (.301).Â
