EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian begins the second-half of its 2025 campaign when Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International come to the Payne Athletic Center Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m., respectively.
EAGLE OUTLOOK (10-7, 2-4 LSC)
Oklahoma Christian will play its third and fourth home conference matches of the season this weekend. In the first two such contests, OC defeated No. 22 Angelo State in the Eagles' first ever victory over an AVCA top-25 opponent, 3-2, before falling to UT Permian Basin, 3-0. The maroon-and-gray are 2-2 inside The Nest in 2025.
In the previous four matches at home, OC has out-hit its opponents in the victories compared to being out-hit in the losses. For the season, Oklahoma Christian is 10-1 when holding a higher attack percentage than its foes, with the one loss coming in five sets at Midwestern State.
Coming into the weekend, the Eagles are sixth among the conference's leaders in hitting percentage (.217) and blocks per set (1.97). Helping on both fronts with those marks is middle blocker
Camryn McGough, who is leading the team in attack percentage (.367) among players with at least 50 total attacks and is second behind fellow middle
Lauren Cary (0.84) with 0.81 blocks per set.
Oklahoma Christian is 4-1 all-time against Texas A&M-Kingsville and 3-0 at home, having never lost to the Javelinas inside the Payne Athletics Center. Following OC's sweep of TAMUK in 2023, the maroon-and-gray overcame a 2-1 set deficit to win it in five last season behind a 17-kill, .367 attack percentage performance from
Annie Davis.
In the four all-time meetings against Texas A&M International, Oklahoma Christian has won two of the matchups, including last year's thrilling reverse-sweep of the Dustdevils. After falling in the opening sets, 29-27 and 25-17, OC rallied back to take the final three frames, 25-23, 25-22 and 15-11. Cary stuffed the stat sheet that afternoon with six kills and zero errors on just 10 total attacks, six service aces and five blocks.Â
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLEÂ (13-4, 5-2 LSC)
Texas A&M Kingsville comes into this weekend with its best 17-match start in program history. The Javelinas, who were receiving votes in last week's AVCA top-25 poll, have dropped two of their last three matches, however, and are 2-1 on the road in conference play.
Kingsville comes to the Sooner State as one of the best defensive teams in the LSC as they lead the league in allowed kills per set (10.24) while also being third in kills per set (13.32). The Javelinas' historic season thus far is thanks to senior setter/right side Rylan Pollard, who is leading her team and fourth in the league with 204 kills while also being second on her team with 323 assists.Â
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL (3-13, 1-6 LSC)
Texas A&M International is off to its worst 16-match start since 2021. The Dustdevils are 1-4 on the road this season, with that one win coming in conference after sweeping Sul Ross State. In those five matches, TAMIU has won just four sets, with three of them coming in the one match against SRSU.
International has proven to be the most dangerous at the service line as it is eighth in the conference with 1.62 service aces per set. On the flip side, TAMIU is last in the league with allowing 2.17 aces per set. Senior libero Samantha Estrada leads the team and is second in the league with 0.50 aces per set and is 12th with 4.12 digs per set.
