EDMOND, Okla. - With 11 conference games behind them and 11 conference games left to go, Oklahoma Christian begins the second half of the LSC schedule Thursday, Jan. 23 when it takes on Lubbock Christian for a 7:30 p.m. tip. The Eagles will then face off with (RV) Midwestern St. Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m.
EAGLE OUTLOOK (6-10, 3-8 LSC)
Oklahoma Christian's four-game losing streak was halted with a 74-71 home victory over St. Edward's last Thursday, marking OC's first victory at home over the Hilltoppers since 2019. Junior transfer
Jason Clark led the way with a matching-career high 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Following the SEU triumph, the Eagles fell to league-leading (RV) St. Mary's, 78-64. With the split, Oklahoma Christian is tied for sixth in the LSC east division standings and one game back of fourth. With OC's last seven games having been against divisional opponents, the maroon-and-gold flip to the other side briefly against LCU and MSU before playing seven of its last nine contests against the league's east teams.
Heading into these pair of games against Lubbock and Midwestern, Oklahoma Christian has dropped five of its last six games and with leading scorer
Keyondre Young averaging just 8.2 points per game during that stretch. Also during that time,
Marco Foster has carried the scoring mantel with 17.6 points per outing.
Bryce Kennedy has followed Foster at 13.8 points. As of Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Eagles are ninth in the league with 74.9 points per game as a team.
Thursday will be the 76th all-time meeting between OC and Lubbock Christian with the Chaparrals leading the all-time series, 42-33. The Eagles have dropped the last five to LCU, with their last win in the series coming Feb. 15, 2020. The maroon-and-gold have not beaten the Chaparrals in Lubbock since 2011. Meanwhile, Oklahoma Christian beat Midwestern St. the last time the two met in Wichita Falls, 79-72. The Eagles have won three of the last four against the Mustangs.
SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (12-6, 7-3 LSC)
Lubbock Christian has won four of its six games in 2025, including a road victory against then-No. 4 West Texas A&M, marking LCU's third NABC Top-10 win of the season. Most recently, the Chapparals fell on the road against Angelo State, 65-55, during which they went 1-of-19 (5.3 percent) from three-point range. On the year, LCU is leading the conference in team three-point field-goal percentage (39.7 percent).
Spearheading that three-point threat is leading scorer Ethan Duncan (16.6 ppg), who is shooting 43.0 percent (58-of-135) from long range, second only to Oklahoma Christian's
Marco Foster at 46.8 percent (51-of-109). Both Duncan and Foster are pacing the conference with 3.2 makers per game. Behind Duncan, three other Chaparrals are averaging double figures in scoring as LCU is fifth in the league with 77.8 points per game.
SCOUTING (RV) MIDWESTERN ST. (12-4, 7-3 LSC)
Midwestern St. is receiving votes in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Poll after compiling a 12-4 overall record, including a 7-3 stint in league play. After its most recent overtime victory on the road at UT Permian Basin, MSU has won three of its last four games, averaging 83.3 points per game during that stretch.
The Mustangs come into Thursday with the sixth-ranked scoring offense (77.6 ppg) and scoring defense (67.9) in the league. Junior guard Mason Gibson leads the offense with 15.9 points per game while he along with fellow guards Pierre Sanders and Bakari LaStrap are all shooting 45.5 percent or better from the floor. Midwestern, while being seventh in the league in team field-goal percentage (45.9 percent), are second in opponent field-goal percentage (40.2 percent).
