EDMOND, Okla. - With six home games remaining on Oklahoma Christian's schedule, the Eagles get two of them going this Thursday and Saturday, beginning with St. Edward's for a 7:30 p.m. tip and St. Mary's at 3 p.m. to close the weekend.
THE EAGLE OUTLOOK (5-9, 2-7 LSC)
After closing 2024 with back-to-back conference victories, Oklahoma Christian has since dropped four straight to start 2025. On their most recent road trip, the Eagles came within seconds of defeating Texas A&M International, but a late go-ahead layup sunk OC, 71-70, while its own layup fell off the rim to give TAMIU the one-point victory.
Marco Foster is four points away from scoring 1000 points for his career. With Foster starting his college career at Oklahoma Christian, the Lancaster, Texas, native has scored 469 of his current 996 points in an Eagles uniform. Through 14 games this season, the former Lone Star Conference All-Freshman performer is averaging 13.7 points per contest.
Two of OC's last four losses have come by four points or less. The Eagles are 1-3 in games decided by four points or fewer this season. Last year, head coach
Kendre Talley's squad had eight such games, with Oklahoma Christian going 3-5 in those close calls. Among those close calls were two games decided by a total of six points against St. Edward's, which the maroon-and-gold split, and a two-point loss against St. Mary's on the road.
As previously mentioned, OC's last two games against the Hilltoppers have been decided by six points. The Eagles got the five-point edge on SEU's home floor last year before St. Edward's got revenge inside the Payne Athletic Center, 71-70. Oklahoma Christian did get the victory over St. Mary's in The Nest last season, 84-73, snapping the Rattlers' three-game winning streak in the series against the maroon-and-gold.
SCOUTING ST. EDWARD'S (10-7, 4-4 LSC)
St. Edward's comes into the Payne Athletic Center with its own mini losing streak of two games, including a three-point loss on the road at UT Tyler one week ago. The Hilltoppers, while being a perfect 6-0 at home for the 2024-25 campaign, are just 1-4 in true road games and are winless in road games against LSC opponents.
St. Edward's owns the third highest scoring offense in the conference at 80.6 points per game while both SEU and OC are Top-4 in team field-goal percentage and three-point field-goal percentage. The Hilltoppers are a perfect 8-0 when scoring at least 80 points and are 2-7 when scoring fewer than 80 points.Â
SCOUTING ST. MARY'S (10-4, 7-1 LSC)
St. Mary's is off to its best 14-game start since th e2013-14 season and is leading the LSC's east division with a 7-1 conference record, which includes a four-game conference winning streak. Two of those four wins were in overtime, highlighted by an 88-83 victory in extra time over then-No. 8 DBU on the road. The Rattlers are 5-2 in true road games this season.
St. Mary's has the fourth-ranked scoring defense in the LSC at 66.5 points per game. Offensively, SEU is one of the best teams in the league at taking care of the ball, being sixth in turnover margin (+3.79) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.29), having the third fewest turnovers per game (12.1).
