STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian Cross Country traveled up I-35 to run at the NCAA Division I event Cowboy Jamboree in a 6k race for the women, and an 8k for the men Saturday, Sept.28.

Womans 6k

In a strong showing, the Eagles recorded a Top-10 finish 262 points. Junior Brook Latham led the Eagles closing hard over the final kilometer to finish in 47th place with a time of 22:46 over the 6km distance. Latham was the top finishing Division II female runner.

Following close behind was freshman Kinley Kite who ran a brave race going with the early pace in the beginning. Kite finished 53rd in a time of 22:58 for her 6km debut. Andrea Garcia Gonzalez was the Eagles' third place runner crossing the line in 91st with a time of 24:08.

The top five for the Eagles was rounded out by Caroline Karr and Kristen Kirk who finished not too far behind Garcia Gonzalez in 95th and 103rd place with times of 24:16 and 24:34, respectively.

The Eagles will now turn their attention to two weeks time where they will travel to Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday, Oct.12 for the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers Invitational. 

Mens 8k 

The Oklahoma Christian men continued its season with their first 8km race of their campaign at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course on the campus of Oklahoma State University in a battle with the reigning Division I national champion Cowboys.

With the majority of upperclassmen sitting out, the Eagles fielded a team the was predominantly made up of freshman and sophomores. The Eagle men finished in 15th place and demonstrated some experienced pack running with very little separating the top five runners. 17 positions separated the top five runners with freshman Cole Davenport leading the Eagles as he did in the opening race of the season finishing in 119th with a time of 27:24.

Like the season opener, Cole Powell closely followed Davenport with a 127th finish with a time of 27:38. Jack Lindley was the next to cross the line running a super impressively executed race for a freshman in his 8km debut. He finished in 130th place with a time of 27:47. Blake Morrison and Brodey Skipworth rounded out the top five for the Eagles, finishing just five seconds apart in 133rd and 136th place with times of 27:54 and 27:59, respectively.

The Eagles will now have a group heading to Dallas, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 5 for the DBU Old Glory Gallop and then another group heading to Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 12 for the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers Invitational.
