San Antonio, Texas - Oklahoma Christian (29-19, 24-14) and St. Mary's (27-19, 22-12) opened their three-game conference series on Thursday afternoon with a doubleheader. The winner of this series will likely claim the 4-seed in the conference tournament.
Game 1
The Eagles started the game with the Brewster twins getting on base with a Kiley Brewster double and Kadence Brewster single. The Eagles loaded the bases when Aaliyah Brown walked in her first at-bat.
Whitney Walde singled up the middle of the field to bring both Brewsters home to give the Eagles the early lead.
Jill Dickson started in the circle for the Eagles, entering the bottom of the first with a 2-0 lead.
The Rattlers got a run back in the bottom of the third inning but the Eagles still held on the lead.
The three runs scored early in the game were all that came across home in game one as Jill Dickson added another win to her record this year.
Dickson exited the game after six innings and recorded three strikeouts, only allowing one run to cross.
Kadence Brewster earned the save as she came to close out the game in the seventh inning shutting down the Rattlers!
Game 2
The Rattlers struck the bottom of the first to put the home team in the lead for the first time in the day.
The Eagle answered in the top of the second on a Whitney Walde lead-off walk. Kristen Whitehouse stepped up to rip a double down the left-field line to send Walde across home for the RBI.
Kiley Brewster drove in the tying run with a hard-hit ball in the infield, sending Whitehouse home.
St. Mary's took the lead back in the bottom of the third with one unearned run and held on to even the series at one game apiece with a rubber match tomorrow.
