Denton, Texas - Oklahoma Christian men's and women's track and field opened its outdoor season at the 2024 Bill Schmidt Classic.
Women's Results - Top 10 Finishes
Brooke Latham (5TH) and Hope Fletcher (9th) had top-ten finishes in the 800-meter race in times of 2:21.95 and 2:29.67, respectively.Â
Andrea Garcia Gonzalez (4:55.19), Itzel Flores (4:58.06), and Caroline Karr (5:06.05) came in 4th, 5th, and 7th in the 1500-meter race.
Jacinda Kwambai took 6th in the 5000-meter race, and Madison Coskey came in 10th place for the Eagles.
Kayedence Bruner took 5th in the high jump, clearing the mark of 1.55m.Â
Nikkita Addy had a hammer throw of 39.87m, which was good for 7th place, and Lillian Harden came in 9th with a distance 35.88m.
Men's Results - Top 10 Finishes
The men had a good showing at their first outdoor meet of 2024, with many Eagles to highlight in their events.Â
Sam Fisher finished 6th in the 100-meter final with a time of 10.94.Â
Ethan Anthony placed 2nd in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.67.Â
In the men's 1500-meter final, the Eagles finished 2nd and 3rd, with Colten Brown finishing with a time of 4:03.57 and Jelte Van Atten just behind with a time of 4:05.17.Â
Jess Dunsmore claimed a victory in the men's 10,000-meter race with a time of 32:02.23.Â
Griffin Chesire claimed a top-3 finish in the men's 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:25.19.Â
After a solid indoor season, Wyatt Thiel continued to perform well in the high jump, finishing fourth with a high jump of 1.95 meters.Â
In the long jump, OC finished with three in the top 10. Torrion Montgomery finished with his longest jump at 7.23 meters. Wyatt Thiel claimed 6th with a long jump of 6.67 meters, and Stacy Smith grabbed a top-10 finish at 9th with a long jump of 6.61 meters.Â
The Eagles also saw solid finishes in the men's hammer throw with three Eagles in the top-10. Kameron Shropshire finished 5th with a long throw of 45.38 meters, Ty Morrison grabbed the 6th spot with a long throw of 44.86 meters, and rounding out the top-10, John Luke Harker threw a 35.42 throw.Â
