Men's Basketball Hosts Cameron in Final Game of 2024

EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian will look to end 2024 on a two-game winning streak when it hosts the Cameron Aggies inside the Payne Athletic Center Thursday, Dec. 19 at at 5 p.m.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (4-5, 1-3 LSC)
The last time out on the court, Oklahoma Christian nabbed its first conference win of the young season, defeating Angelo State for the first time in program history, 61-58. Trailing by six with less than four minutes remaining, OC closed the contest on a 13-4 run to make history Saturday afternoon against the Rams. A win Thursday over Cameron would mark the maroon-and-gold's first 2-3 start through five league games since the 2021-22 season.

37 of the Eagles' 61 points came from Keyondre Young (19) and Bryce Kennedy (18) as Young has now scored in double figures in all nine games this season. Young (18.7 ppg), Marco Foster (12.1 ppg) and Kennedy (11.6) are both currently Top-30 in the LSC in scoring, while Oklahoma Christian boasts four players within the league's top 40 scorers on a per-game basis. The Eagles are one of three teams in the LSC to have four players averaging at least 11 points per game.

Oklahoma Christian continues to own one of the top offenses in the LSC, operating as the seventh-ranked team in scoring offense (76.0 ppg), third in team field-goal percentage (47.8 percent) and fifth in three-point field-goal percentage (37.3 percent). Despite being towards the top from beyond the arc, OC is just tied for 11th with a total of 158 three-point field-goal attempts, making the most of those attempts.

Thursday will be the 31st all-time meeting between the Eagles and the Aggies, with the first meeting dating back to 1969. Both teams have split the last four meetings, but Cameron did take last year's meeting in the Payne Athletic Center, 76-71. Despite out-shooting CU from deep, 7-of-17 (41.2 percent) compared to 3-of-21 (14.3 percent), the Aggies converted 23 of their 28 free-throw attempts while the Eagles left 10 points at the charity stripe.

SCOUTING CAMERON (3-7, 0-4 LSC)
Cameron heads to Edmond on a current four-game skid, though the last three have each been by single digits. Most recently, CU lost to Angelo State, 65-58. One of the Aggies' three wins came against in-region foe Western Colorado, 85-72, which OC beat to kick off the season, 71-63. Cameron used strong perimeter defense to defeat the two programs' common non-conference opponent as Western shot just 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from deep. In WCU's battle with OC, the Mountaineers shot 19.0 percent (4-of-21) from beyond the arc.

Though not boasting four such players, Cameron has three players averaging more than 11 points per game, led by senior guard Lavell Brodnex at 14.6 points per game, having scored at least 20 points in two of CU's last three games. Brodnex has done most of his damage within the perimeter, shooting an LSC-fifth best 52.7 percent (58-of-110) from the floor among qualified players.
