WOMEN'S RESULTS

KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Oklahoma Christian women took a trip to south Texas for the Lone Star Conference cross country championships Saturday, Oct. 26. The conference championships featured a 6km race for the women in what was extremely difficult conditions for distance running in regards to the heat and humidity.

The Eagles finished the day recording a fifth place team finish which was an extremely impressive result given the conditions and the edge that some better acclimated teams had on the day.

The Eagles were led by Brooke Latham and Kinley Kite, who would finish the race with All-Conference honors finishing 12th and 15th with times of 21:55 and 22:09, respectively. Along with her all-conference honors, Kite was also awarded the conference freshman runner of the year. Oklahoma Christian's Caroline Karr won the award in 2022.  

Andrea Garcia Gonzalez was the third runner to cross the line for the Eagles, finishing in 25th place with a time of 22:47 adding to the Eagles' strong 1-2 punch. Rounding out the scorers for the Eagles were Karr and Lauren Kirk, who finished in 43rd and 68th place, respectively.

Even with the conditions, the Eagles were able to get great reward from the culmination of work they have put in over the many months leading up to the championship season and they look to continue that at regionals come early November.

The Eagles will now turn their attention to two weeks time where they will race in the South Central Regional Championships in Denver, Colorado, which presents a new challenge in terms of the conditions on Nov. 9.
