Kite Earns Second Conference Freshman of the Week Honor

RICHARDSON, Texas - Oklahoma Christian women's cross country true freshman Kinley Kite has competed in three collegiate races as a college athlete. Kite has now accumulated two Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week honors to go with those trio of competitions.

The Norman, Okla. (Norman North HS) native earned her latest weekly conference recognition after being the top-finishing Division II freshman runner at Oklahoma State University's Cowboy Jamboree. Kite's debut 6k race saw her finish 53rd with a time of 22:58 while coming through the 5k mark in 18:52.

The freshman's efforts helped OC finish 10th out of 16 teams, including being the top LSC team and the second DII squad to finish in Stillwater.

When Kite won her first LSC Freshman of the Week honor following the season-opening RSU Distance After Dark, the Sooner State product became the first Oklahoma Christian female cross country runner to be named Freshman of the Week since 2022.

Next up for Kite and Oklahoma Christian is the UAH Chargers Invitational hosted by Alabama-Huntsville in Hunstville, Ala. Saturday, Oct. 12. Following the Invitational will be the Lone Star Conference Championships a couple weeks later in Kingsville, Texas, Saturday, Oct. 26.
