Men’s Basketball Opens up Season With an Exhibition Against the Golden Hurricanes

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Men's basketball heads up to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricanes for their first exhibition of the year. This is the two teams second meeting for an exhibition, with their first coming to start the 2016-17 campaign.

The Eagles are looking forward to the preseason opener and head coach Kendre Talley had this to say about the exhibition:

"We are thankful for the opportunity to travel to play Tulsa. It's always a great opportunity for our guys to play against a division 1 opponent." said Talley ahead of this week's matchup. "As a player I had the opportunity to play against the University of Oklahoma and it is a memory that I talk about to this day. Our guys are excited to go up and compete and our fans are all looking to go and support us. This game will help us prepare for the tough start to our schedule and give our guys an idea of what a really good team will look like."

Tulsa is coming off a 5-25 season, where they went 1-17 in the American Conference play in head coach Eric Konkol's first season at the helm. Konkol does hold a career .612 winning percentage, and previously built up LA Tech to six 20+ win seasons. Tulsa is returning upperclassman, Jesaiah McWright, along with LA Tech transfers Keaston Willis and Cobe Williams (18.8 pts, 4.1 ast, and 2.0 stl).

The Eagles are led by senior guards, Moun'Tae Edmundson (11.7 pts, 3.5 ast, and 1.4 stl) and Karlyn Kenner (10.3 pts, 2.6 ast, 1.0 stl). Some notable additions include ECU grad transfer, Quinton Johnson II, Bryce Kennedy, and incoming freshman Miles Gibson
