Stillwater, Okla. - The women's cross country team competed in a twenty-team field comprised of fifteen DI schools at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater this morning.
The Eagles finished 18th overall, scoring 573 points and placing them ahead of Southern Nazarene.
Freshman Caroline Karr was the first finisher for OC with a time of 22:36.3 in her first collegiate 6k race. Fellow freshman Jayna Gunter was the second finisher with a time of 24:08.4.
Senior Kenya Bailey (24:16.1), sophomore Jacinda Kwambi (24:31.1), and freshman Brooke Latham (25:04.1) were the next finishers, rounding out the five that count towards the team score. And Madison Coskey (26:24.6), Payton Duesing (26:36.2), and Hope Fletcher (28:58.1) finished just behind them.
"We competed well on the day and still have significant room for improvement from each of our runners." head coach Wade Miller said after the meet. "Caroline ran especially well for us out front! It was good to race a challenging course and experience a really great cross country atmosphere. We have another good training block coming up and we are looking forward to taking advantage of that!"
The Eagles' next meet day is on Saturday, October 15th, with the location still TBD.
