OKLAHOMA CITY (June 4, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian will face teams from eight states during its 2022 volleyball season, OC coach
Jason Skoch said Saturday as the schedule was revealed.
It will be the third season for OC's fledgling program, which first played with the spring 2021 season, then went 12-18 last fall in Skoch's first season with the Eagles. OC won a postseason match for the first time and advanced to the Lone Star Conference tournament quarterfinals.
OC will open the season with eight home matches, spread across two festival weekends. The Eagles will open on Aug. 26 against Westminster (Utah), then play Illinois-Springfield later that day. The next day, OC will play Southwest Baptist (Mo.) and Arkansas Tech.
The following weekend, the Eagles will host Southeastern Oklahoma State and Emporia State (Kan.) on Sept. 2, then local rivals Southern Nazarene and Central Oklahoma on Sept. 3.
The Eagles' first matches away from home will come in a LSC crossover event hosted by St. Edward's in Austin, Texas. OC will play Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 8, then Texas A&M-Kingsville and the host school on Sept. 9. Those matches will not count in the LSC standings.
OC's LSC schedule opens with three straight road matches. The Eagles again will face Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 16, then Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Sept. 17 and Arkansas-Fort Smith on Sept. 21.
After a nonconference home match with East Central on Sept. 23, the Eagles' LSC home opener will be Sept. 24 against Western New Mexico. OC will host league rival Texas A&M International on Sept. 27.
The Eagles will visit Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 1 before a nonconference road match at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 4. Then will come four straight LSC home matches – against Dallas Baptist (Texas) on Oct. 12, Cameron on Oct. 14, West Texas A&M on Oct. 15 and Texas-Tyler on Oct. 19.
The Eagles will head south to face league rivals St. Mary's (Texas) on Oct. 21 and St. Edward's on Oct. 22 before home matches against Texas-Permian Basin on Oct. 28 and Angelo State (Texas) on Oct. 29. OC will wrap up the regular season on the road, at Texas Woman's on Nov. 4 and Midwestern State (Texas) on Nov. 5.
